Biography

Meg Tierney is an associate in Norton Rose Fulbright's Chicago office and advises clients on trademark procurement and portfolio management and technology transactions. Meg focuses her trademark practice on clearance, prosecution, enforcement and overall portfolio management and brand protection. She assists in counselling clients, from large corporations to small business owners, in the selection of trademarks, throughout the registration process, and in enforcement actions against infringement. She has experience with infringement actions in federal court and at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. 

Meg also advises clients on compliance with US advertising and marketing regulations, with a particular interest in the FTC rules related to social media influencers. Her experience in this area includes general advice related to consumer-facing advertising materials, claim substantiation, and influencer disclosures. Meg also has experience working directly with influencers to negotiate product-specific contracts and reviewing proposed content to ensure compliance with FTC regulations.

Additionally, Meg dedicates time in her practice to technology transactions, where she drafts a variety of agreements including technology licenses, software services agreements, development agreements, and consulting agreements. She works with clients in various industries, including healthcare, consumer products and e-commerce. Meg also has experience with design patents, copyrights, and domain name disputes.
